Aspirations and Oriental Medicine – the Connection.
By Valerie L. Lopez, AP - January 2011 Newsletter

A cornerstone of Oriental Medicine is the idea that all illness originates from the emotions. All
things considered, this is a pretty gutsy premise.

The thought is that if your mind is troubled, the body will surely follow.
If your mind is troubled and your body is not healthy it can make creating successes in your life
a virtual impossibility.

After all, how can you:
  • Focus.
  • Remain positive during the challenges of any success story.
  • Have the energy to do all that requires your attention in a day.
  • Keep a sharing attitude to establish a sense of community with your co-workers,
    customers, friends and/or family.
  • Overcome depression, fear and anxiety so as to share unconditional love and harmony
    with those around you.
  • Eliminate frustration and dejection so as to prevent destroying the very relationships that
    sustain you.

And that’s just surviving!

How can you create the aspirations of your mind and soul if you have nothing left to build with
after managing your life in survival mode?

You need help. We all need help. The burden is sometimes too overwhelming for one person
to bear. The reality is that times are challenging right now. More than ever, we need to have a
rock of positive consciousness to anchor our lives to. When times are difficult, that rock can be
hard to find.

You might be wondering how one can waste time with aspirations when just getting through the
day requires so much effort. Well,    I’m here to tell you that is
exactly why you need aspirations.
Because without something to look forward to, life can lose it’s reason for being – and we cant
have that. We’re destined for much greater than that.

Regulating our emotions and maintaining a positive outlook can be a tricky thing. Fortunately,
Oriental Medicine makes it possible to achieve emotional as well as physical fitness. You’re
probably wondering how. I’ll briefly explain the Oriental Medicine matrix that unravels the
mysteries of the human being as best I can. For only by understanding where the problem lies
can we go about correcting it.

Each emotion (anger, depression, anxiety, fear, apathy, obsession, etc) is associated with a
Meridian. Each Meridian has a series ‘tendencies’ in both the emotional and the physical
realm.

For example: FEAR. Kidney Meridian. Tendencies towards lower back and knee pain,
dental problems, failure to thrive, premature aging, salt craving, fertility/sterility issues,
dark circle under the eyes, instability, scattered mind, insomnia, being uncomfortable in
    your own skin.

It is not required for someone to have all these tendencies, as there are different
manifestations or levels of Kidney Deficiency. Additionally, you can have multiple affected
Meridians. In fact, most people, being the complex beings that we are, do have multiple
Meridian patterns in their diagnosis. (Example: fear and worry will generally lead to a
diagnosis of Kidney and Spleen Deficiency)

If you don’t understand what any of this means, that’s ok. As your physician I will teach you. We
will use tools such as acupuncture, homeopathy, nutrition, herbal prescriptions, lifestyle
counseling, among other things to get you on track.

Before diving into the deeper end of the pool here, just know that whatever Oriental Medicine
diagnosis you have, the goal is to correct and balance things out as soon as possible. By
correcting these imbalances on a core level we achieve the goal of instilling grounding,
confidence, stability and peace of mind – which immediately relieves the body of tension,
distress and fatigue.

Your aspirations are waiting for you!

With a clear mind and a healthy body we have the ability to see outside of our ‘problems’ and
‘issues’ and become creators in our lives.
Create something beautiful.
